Fab Pair Antique American Sterling Silver Black Starr Frost Candlesticks
Presented is a fabulous pair of antique American sterling silver candlesticks. These candlesticks were retailed and likely made by Black, Starr & Frost, and date to the early 1900s or possibly late 1800s. The candlesticks are made in a lovely classical form, featuring a lobed design to the shaft and quatrefoil design to the bobeche and base. The form is reminiscent of Reed & Barton's Hepplewhite pattern. Each candlestick has a monogram of CEP on the front in elegant script. These are high quality, well made candlesticks with nice weight to them. The bobeches or wax drips can be removed for ease of cleaning. These candlesticks would look great on any mantel or table setting.
Each candlestick is stamped on the underside with sterling, the mark for Black, Starr & Frost.
This pair is in great overall condition. There are a couple of minor dings here and there, but nothing of any significance in our opinion. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each candlestick is about 10 ½ inches tall.
The total weight for the pair is 884 grams or 31.2 regular ounces. Due to the weighting in the bases, not all of this weight is sterling silver.
