    Description

Up for sale is this lovely antique commonplace/friendship book belonging to one Lydia A. Berry of New Durham, New Hampshire.  The book contains a variety of poems, excerpts, etc.  It is fairly full with approximately 56 pages of handwritten content on 40 leaves.  Just a few of the leaves are completely blank.  Some of the pages contain handwritten poetry and others contain just a few lines of writing or standard signatures.  The book is illustrated with 4 black and white engravings.  The red leather covers only have some light scuffing and wear.  The binding is good and sound.  The interior pages are lightly toned from age with some occasional foxing, soiling & grubbiness.  Some pages have a bit of fading to the ink.  A few pages may have a small chip or tear, creased page corner, light wrinkle, etc.  The entries date from the 1860's-1880's.  A few of them have a notation at the bottom of the entry writer's death year.  The book measures approximately 7 7/8 inches by 6 3/8 inches.  All in all a really wonderful old friendship journal.  Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition.
