This Rare Queen AnneColonial American Document of 1707 is on Hand Laid Paper & has A Papermakers Watermark Bristol: Memorandum That on the 8th Day of July 1707 in The 6th Year of The Reign of Our Sovereign Lady Anne of Our England Ye Queen Before Nathaniel Byfield and others of her Majesty's Justices of The Peace For the County of Bristol at Bristol sitting in Her Court General Sessions of The Peace Came & Appeared John Poarce of Tiverton in sd County of Bristol & Become Bound for Nicholas Moorey of Freetown in The Sum of 10 pounds Current Money of New England & The sd Nicholas Moorey for himself in the Sum of 10 Pounds Currant Money as Above said Which they Severally Acknowledge To Be Due and Owing To Our sd Sovereign Her Heirs or Successors To be Levied on There Goods Chattels Lands & Tenements if Default be Made of The Condition Underwritten. The Condition of this Present Recognizance is such that Whereas the above bound Nicholas Moorey is by Ye Justices of The above sd Court Admitted and allowed TO KEEP A COMMON INN and Ale House or Victualing House To Use for The COMMON SELLING OF Of Ale, Beer, Wine & Cyder & for the Space of One Whole Year & If The sd Nicholas Moorey & Shall Do well & Cause To be Paid & For Consideration For his Draught to Be paid unto James Taylor Gentleman Treasure Or to his Successor in sd Office The Sum of 30 Shillings That is to say at or before The 29th Day of June Next After then This recognizance to be voyed and of Non Affect But if default be Made then Stand & Abide and Be in Full Force and virtue Acknowledged in Court Attest John Cary Clerk On Verso it States Nicholas Moorey For His draught 1708 6 1/4 x 8 1/2" .00 for 1st Class Mail Satisfaction Always Guaranteed.
